Letter from Grand Knight Tom Doyle

Dec 2015

It is amazing how fast time flies. Here we are in December and our Parish is wrapping up the last couple of events celebrating our 50th anniversary.  We have the parish mission Thursday, Dec. 3 to Sunday Dec. 6 and the last event will be the celebration of mass on Tuesday, Dec. 8, the feast of The Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary.  I ask that you make every effort to get out for these.  Our council will be hosting a social after the mission on Fri., Dec. 4.  (CWL will be hosting one after the mission service on Dec. 3)

Our 50th anniversary banquet was a success.  Pretty well all 200 tickets for sold for the event and it was great to see so many of the priests who have served our parish over the years.  Our council looked after the bar.  Thanks to Bro. Dave Obrien, Bro. Bill Leach and Bro. Chris Quinlan for helping with the bar and ticket sales. I ask that each member continue to promote our council and work on bringing in new members to help in the work the Knights of Columbus does for the parish and community. We had a lot of interest from our membership recruitment drive but now we have to follow up with all potential members to once again invite them to join.  There are Form 100s in the KofC slot by the welcome desk. Please take a couple and have them ready when you are talking to men of the parish who have yet to get involved with the Knights.

Lastly, we will be having our Christmas potluck dinner on Wed. Dec. 9 at 7:00 in St. Joseph’s Hall.  Our council will be supplying wine for the event so please consider coming out and bringing your favourite dish to share a meal with your Brother Knights and their families.   Also, if you know of any men who may be interested in becoming a Knight please invite them to come along with you to find out more about what we do and join in the fellowship of the evening.

As we enter into the Advent Season I would like to wish all members, their families and friends a safe and happy Christmas season.

Vivat Jesus

Bro. Tom, GK
