Meet our new seminarians! 

 

Dear brother Knights, 

 

For the next few months I will be introducing our five new seminarians for the Diocese of London.  They have graciously provided a short vocation story of their journey thus far.  Please keep them in prayer.

Holy Name of Jesus Parish, Essex 

Theology I 

 

My home parish is Holy Name of Jesus, located in Essex, Ontario. It is the start of my vocation story. Being at Holy Name of Jesus, I had the honour of meeting some wonderful individuals who put tremendous effort into cultivating the lives of our parish youth.  In Essex, our youth ministry provided a multiplicity of opportunity to explore the faith and to contemplate vocations. By the grace of God and the hard work of many parishioners, Holy Name of Jesus Parish developed an environment where I could think freely about my faith and my purpose in the world.  

 

Then at 16 yrs old, I attended a “Christ in Others Retreat” (COR) and I learned about unconditional love, and the value of having that kind of love for others. This was a pivotal point in my life because it enabled me to see the goodness in all things.  Fr. Patrick Beneteau was the chaplain on that retreat and he reached out to me about discernment of the priesthood.  He suggested that I should attend a “Come and See” weekend and in the fall of 2011, my first time at St. Peter’s Seminary, was a wonderful experience that helped me to further discern my call to the priesthood.  

 

With many mentors by my side and with a tremendous amount of support, I was able to make an informed decision about my vocation to priestly formation five years later. I graduated from Essex District High school as an Ontario Scholar achieving Honours. Then I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a specialization in Philosophy and a minor in Sociology at King’s University College (Western University). I’ve had so many wonderful life changing experiences at King’s, and one of the highlights was working for Campus Ministry. As part of the Campus ministry team, I was serving Christ and community and this was one of the main motivators for me to enter St. Peter’s Seminary. I am so grateful for all the opportunities I’ve had in my life, and can’t wait to experience what is yet to come. Thank you to everyone who has been there with me along the way. Paroisse Saint Nom de Jésus, Essex 
Théologie I 
 
Ma paroisse natale est la paroisse Saint Nom de Jésus, situé à Essex, en Ontario.  Cette communauté est le début de l'histoire de ma vocation.  Comme paroissien chez Saint Nom de Jésus, j'ai eu l'honneur de rencontrer certaines personnes merveilleuses qui ont mis des efforts considérables dans la jeunesse de notre paroisse.  À Essex, notre ministère de la jeunesse a fourni une multitude de possibilités pour explorer la foi et de contempler les vocations.  Par la grâce de Dieu et le travail acharné de nombreux paroissiens, Saint Nom de Jésus a développé un environnement où je pouvais penser librement à propos de ma foi et mon but dans le monde. 
 
Puis, à l'âge de 16 ans, j’ai participé à une "Christ Others Retreat" (COR) où j'ai appris l'amour inconditionnel et la valeur d'avoir ce genre d'amour pour les autres.  Ce fut un tournant dans ma vie, car il m'a permis de voir la bonté en toutes choses.  Le Père Patrick Bénéteau était l'aumônier sur cette retraite et il m’a parlé propos du discernement de la prêtrise.  Il a suggéré que je devais assister à une fin de semaine "Come & See" à l'automne 2011.  Ma première fois au séminaire, a été une expérience merveilleuse qui m'a aidé à discerner davantage mon appel au sacerdoce. 
 
Avec beaucoup de mentors à mes côtés et avec une énorme quantité de soutien, je suis en mesure de prendre une décision éclairée au sujet de ma vocation à la formation sacerdotale, cinq ans plus tard.  Je suis un diplômé d’Essex District High School avec honneurs.  Ensuite, j’ai accomplis un baccalauréat en arts avec une spécialisation en philosophie et une mineure en sociologie au collège King’s (Université de Western).  J'ai eu tant d’expériences merveilleuse à King’s.  L'un des faits saillants était quand j’ai travaillé pour Campus ministry.  Dans le cadre de l'équipe de Campus ministry, je servais le Christ et la communauté, ce qui était l'un des principaux facteurs de motivation pour moi d'entrer au séminaire Saint-Pierre.  Je suis tellement reconnaissant pour toutes les occasions que j'ai eues dans ma vie, et je ne peux pas attendre de connaître ce qui est encore à venir. Merci à tous ceux et celles qui ont été là avec moi le long du chemin. Votre amour, le soutien et les prières signifient le monde pour moi.  Dieu vous bénisse!
